Medical negligence in the emergency room

Thousands of people in New Mexico seek care in the emergency rooms of their local hospitals every year. When people have to go to the E.R., they do so believing that the treatment that they receive will help them to recover from their injuries or illnesses. Unfortunately, doctors and the medical staff of emergency departments sometimes make errors that harm the patients.

A major problem in emergency rooms is when a person is misdiagnosed. When a doctor fails to accurately diagnose a patient’s condition, the patient may end up with serious injuries, or he or she may die. If you or your loved one has been harmed by emergency room errors, you might be able to hold the doctor, staff and the hospital accountable for your losses.

Your injuries may have resulted from failures of communication between the staff and the doctor. You may also have been harmed when a test was read incorrectly or if the doctor failed to order a specific test. You will need to be able to determine what error was made, and you will have to get copies of your medical records in order to help you to make that determination.

At The Law Offices of Salazar, Sullivan & Jasionowski, our attorneys work to determine if errors were made that caused injuries. We work together with medical experts to help make the determination. If we believe that medical negligence resulted in the injuries to our clients, we then file medical malpractice lawsuits and litigate on their behalf. In many cases, we are able to resolve our clients’ cases through negotiating settlements that provide fair compensation for their losses.
